Imbibing the parent company’s ‘Bharat Forge DNA’ of research and innovation, Kalyani Powertrain Ltd. (KPTL) was formed, initially as a separate business division but then spun off as a separate company in Apr 2021, with the objective of providing solutions for the ‘Electrification’ of vehicles.

Today, we have a formalized E-Mobility strategy keeping in mind the needs of both domestic and international customers. The E-Mobility portfolio includes a whole span of solutions for the 2W, 3W, 4W, Bus and Truck electrification, ranging from providing selected sub-systems to complete electric powertrain kits.

Over this period, KPTL made significant investments to ensure continuous growth, both organically as well as inorganically, in order to develop expertise in sophisticated e-mobility technology.

Mr. Baba N. Kalyani
Chairman & MD, Bharat Forge Ltd. (Parent Company of KPTL)

Mr. Baba Neelkanth Kalyani is the Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Forge Limited (BFL), a Pune based Indian multinational, technology-driven global leader in metal forming and part of Kalyani Group - a USD 3 billion conglomerate with 10,000+ global work force. It has a trans-continental presence across 10 manufacturing locations, serving several sectors including automotive, oil and gas, power, locomotive & marine, aerospace, construction & mining, etc.

A Mechanical Engineer from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science at Pilani, Rajasthan and an M.S. in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, Baba Kalyani joined Bharat Forge in 1972 when the company's annual turnover was about US $ 1.3 million.

Under his impeccable leadership and vision has transformed BFL to a global diversified company and is a preferred technology and engineering driven Global Partner for leading OEMs across the world in various sectors.

Mr. Kalyani serves on the Boards of many prestigious companies and represents industry on several Industry, Trade and Educational institutions in India and abroad. Acknowledging his contribution to promote India’s trade globally, the Prime Minister of India nominated Baba Kalyani as the Co-Chairman of the India-Japan Business Leaders’ Forum in the year 2013 and as the Co-Chairman of India-Sweden Business Leaders’ Roundtable in the year 2016. Mr. Kalyani is also an active member of the Indo-French CEO’s Forum, Indo-Russia CEO’s Forum, Indo-UK CEO’s Forum among others.

His significant contributions to industry and the community have been recognized through various prestigious awards that he has received. Among the many awards and recognitions conferred upon him, the most notable one is the Padma Bhushan – the highest civilian award in India. Also, Mr. Kalyani is a core member of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council.

Mr. Amit B. Kalyani
Deputy Managing Director, Bharat Forge Ltd.(Parent Company of KPTL)

Amit Kalyani, Born on 26th July 1975, is an Indian technocrat and a business leader from the Kalyani group, a 3 billion dollars conglomerate with 10,000 plus global workforce and a marquee customer base. Amit earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. He completed Owner/President Management program from Harvard Business School, Massachusetts, U.S.A. and is an active member of the Young President’s Organization.

Joining Kalyani Steels Ltd., an engineering steel manufacturer, in 1997, Amit oversaw the technology transfer from Carpenter Technology Corporation, USA to the then new joint venture Kalyani Carpenter Special Steels Ltd. (Saarloha Advanced Materials Ltd.) for specialty clean engineering steels. As a Director on the Board, Amit continues to pursue the global expansion of Kalyani Steels Ltd.

He joined Bharat Forge Ltd., a $2.5 billion-manufacturing flagship of the Group, in 1999 as the Chief Technology Officer immediately spearheaded the adoption of digitalization and automation in manufacturing. In his young career, Amit has performed a plethora of roles and currently as a Deputy Managing Director at, he drives the strategic planning, Global business outlook, Mergers & Acquisitions, Human resource development and Investor relations.
His current focus is to drive the Kalyani Group vision of Technology Leadership with a synergy of in-house activities with universities, technology leaders and Start-ups. Amit has led the group’s foray into new technologies through incubation of outcome oriented activities and skill development around advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, nano-technology, e-mobility, embedded systems etc., establishing Centers for Technology & Innovation (KCTI) in India and abroad. These centers run joint research and development programs with universities and organizations like RWTH Aachen University, Fraunhofer, BITS Pilani, IIT Bombay and MIRA amongst others.

Amit is leading KPTL’s strategic shift towards developing sustainable mobility solutions and has driven the M&A activity with innovative start-ups like Tevva Motors of UK, Refu GmbH of Germany and Tork Motorcycles of Pune (India).

He envisions that successful future manufacturing corporations need to be nimble with technology. Thereby, he endorses the concept of an Open Innovation environment both inside and outside the organization.

Mr. Ravi Nagarkar
Managing Director (KTFL and KPTL)

Mr. Ravi Nagarkar is the MD of Kalyani Technoforge Ltd. and Kalyani Powertrain Ltd. Having an astounding experience of 28 years in the automotive, forging, and heat treatment industry, he has always worked in key positions with quite a few companies. He has Bachelors’ Degree in Metallurgy from the Government College of Engineering of Pune, India and also holds an M.S in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Warwick - one of the UK’s leading universities.

It was the year 2011 when Ravi took over the reins of Kalyani Technoforge Ltd (KTFL) as the COO. Back then the revenue was INR 200 crores. Today, his strong leadership has catapulted the company on a growth path with a revenue of INR 1200 Crores in 2020. Ravi is now the Managing Director at KTFL and is also responsible for various manufacturing companies in the Kalyani group such as Kalyani Powertrain Ltd., Kalyani Transmission Technologies Pvt. Ltd & INMET (Metal injection molding).

Ravi has carved a name for himself in strategizing, Business development, and organizational development. Using his profound experience over the years, he has strategized & implemented new products, projects & programs across segments and geographies. He is a pioneer behind developing technologies such as 3D Printing and Metal Induction Molding with a focus on exporting such products worldwide.

In addition to this, Ravi has taken charge of developing Bharat Forge’s Center for Light Weighting Technologies as well apart from the E-mobility businesses. He is also responsible for Bharat Forge’s Aluminum foray in the USA including Plant setup as well as expansion and business development.

Mr. Sanjeev R. Kulkarni

Sanjeev has a rich career increasingly specializing in acquisition and management of complex and highly technical projects with different OEMs. He has experience in: strategic forward-planning; operating within the tight financial disciplines; methodical administration to deadlines and the application of modern leadership methods through team motivation and involvement in both decision-making and target-setting, clarity in communication, and easy personal inter-relations.

He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Karnataka University and has completed an Executive General Management Program at IIM-B in collaboration with Robert Bosch Kolleg, Bosch Corporate University, Stuttgart from April to September, 2013.

His own engineering background and analytical interests in automotive applications, together with a command on foreign language like German, has left him confident in handling negotiations/interactions that require the reconciliation of different approaches to otherwise common problems.

Throughout his career span, he has been associated with prestigious organizations like The Mysore Kirloskar Ltd., SAN Engineering & Locomotive Co. Ltd., Bosch Ltd., Bharat Forge Ltd. and is currently serving as the CEO of Kalyani Powertrain Ltd., w.e.f April 1st 2021.

His current role significantly involves developing growth strategies for the Company in various business fields such as e-Mobility including acquisitions and mergers, technology partnering and cross border collaborations.
